The Muslim Brotherhood is now willing to organize a political party in Egypt once the restrictions for that are lifted.
"When the popular demand for the freedom to form parties is realized, the group will found a political party," a statement on the organization's website reads.
The revivalist Muslim Brotherhood is the largest and most organized opposition movement in Egypt. Since it has a religious agenda it is officially abolished in the country. However, Brotherhood candidates ran as independents in the 2005 election and won 88 of 444 parliamentary seats.
Egypt's constitution was suspended on February 13 by the military and the Parliament was dissolved. The armed forces, which took over after former President Hosni Mubarak was toppled, said they would rule the country for six months or until parliamentary and presidential elections.
Meanwhile, Egyptian media claimed on Monday that Hosni Mubarak, who recently resigned under popular pressure and after 18 days of massive street protests, is gravely ill and has even fallen into a coma.
